Tiger Bar in Patong's Bangla Road has been around for many years and is one of the most popular places to have a drink in all of Phuket. Every single night the entire bar area of Tiger is packed with bar girls and tourists and it is like this throughout the night.
Tiger Bar is also known as Soi Tiger and it isn't just one bar, it's a collection of many small bars known as beer bars and they are all under the one roof. Each bar is owned by someone different and they all have different names. The bars are almost always owned by expat foreigners who go halves with a Thai person in the business. The expat owners are sometimes present at the bars and join in on the fun of drinking with the tourists. Each bar usually employs around 10 to 15 bar girls and a few bar tenders.

The bar girls in Tiger Bar are mostly good looking and are there to bring in the male customers and keep them there by using their good looks and charm with the distraction of playing games to keep you occupied while you are drinking. The girls are skilled at playing the games, especially when it comes to - connect four, if you try to beat them at this you will lose about 99 percent of the time, so don't play for drinks otherwise you will end up with a massive drinks bill.

Drinks in the Tiger Bar complex are not exactly cheap for Thai standards and lady drinks for bar girls are among the highest you will pay in Thailand for a beer bar. The bar girls are told to put pressure on you to repeatedly buy them drinks and if you don't watch your bill, it will elevate very fast. You wont just get one bar girl asking you to buy them drinks, you will get several and maybe even the mamasan will ask you for a drink too.

Tiger Bar is lit up like a Christmas tree with all kinds of colored lights and flat screen TV's, plus there are 2 huge Tiger's out the front, so it's hard to miss it as you walk down Bangla Road, in fact it's pretty much impossible to miss it when you walk past. If the lights and crowds don't attract your attention, the noise that comes out of the bar certainly will, as there is a thumping stereo system which pumps out the music all night long.

Upstairs to the bar complex is a disco which is big and is full of freelancing Thai women who are looking to pick up for the night. Being a tourist in a disco like this can a great experience as many of the friendly Thai women approach you during the night.

The bar and disco have been upgraded and moved across the road from the old tiger. The old disco is being converted into a Russian go go for those who like Russian Women and like to spend. The new Tiger is much larger than the old Tiger it looks set to be the biggest disco and bar area on Bangla Road for some time to come.
