Phuket Tourist Seasons Information
Phuket gets millions of visitors to the island each and every year and the majority of these tourists will be on holidays here during the High and Peak Seasons.There are 3 different seasons for tourists in Phuket and it all depends on what you are looking for in your holiday (and your budget) as to what is best for you.
This is generally from the start of May - till the end of October and this time of year is best to visit if you like it more quiet and peaceful. Not only are there less tourists around at this time of year, but it's also much cheaper and getting a hotel room for a discount price is the norm. The price for a hotel room can be 4 times cheaper than what you would pay in the Peak Season. The price of getting an airfare to Phuket will most likely be cheaper too and even the price of tours are generally less expensive at this time of the year than any other time.
Low Season has much more rain than any other time of the year and sometimes there can be flash flooding. The best time to visit in the Low Season to avoid the rain would be from the start of July - to the end of August. September and October are generally the wettest months of the year. You can be lucky when visiting in the Low Season and get next to no rain, but it's all random and unpredictable. Even when it does rain, it's usually for short bursts and stops after an hour or so and it's not uncommon to get many sunny days in between rainy bursts.
This season usually starts from the beginning of November and runs through till the end of April. There is a one month break in the High Season when it changes to Peak Season from the 15th of December - till the 15th of January and during this time, things get really expensive.
The High Season is when the prices start to go up and so do the tourist numbers and you could be paying double what you would normally pay in the Low Season for a hotel room and sometimes even more.
The weather is generally better at this time and there is less rain on the average. The hottest time of the year is at the end of the High Season which is during April.
The prices of tours usually start to go up at this time of year and getting an airfare to Phuket is mostly more expensive than in the Low Season.
This is the most expensive time of year to visit for anything in Phuket and it generally starts from the 15th of December till the 15th of January. Hotel rooms can be as much as 4 times more expensive than what you would pay in the Low Season and can be double that of what you would pay in the High Season. Tour prices are up at this time and even the price of food can be more expensive at this time.
The price of an airfare to Phuket can be double or even triple what you would pay in the Low Season and for the cheapest airfares at this time, it's best to get in as early as possible as the seats will sell out and the airline companies know this and will up the prices as the time gets closer to take off date.
There will be many tourists at this time of year and most hotels will be full. The beaches will be packed and most deck chairs on the beach will be occupied.
The weather in the Peak Season is the best, with the least rain on average and the temperature slightly cooler and more pleasant. There is also less humidity and a light sea breeze which usually blows in the afternoon.
