Koh Phangan and Full Moon Party Guide
Koh Phangan is a popular island in Thailand and is known around the world for the Full Moon Parties that are held here. Every month when the moon is full, thousands of people descend on Haad Rin Beach for a night of partying which often runs on into the next day and longer as the people here are on holidays and in party mode.Bars and places to drink are setup all along the beach and buckets of mixed alcohol are sold to keep the party alive. DJ's are also set up all along the beach pumping out their favourite dance tunes on massive speakers and the beach is one massive dance floor for the thousands of party people.
There are many fire shows here and sheets are doused in kerosene and huge skipping ropes are set on fire for those who are willing to have a go. There are some fire shows where very skilful locals light up sticks and show off their amazing skills as they spin and twirl them at rapid speeds and it is quiet a thrill to watch. Places to Stay:
Most of the hotels and resorts on Koh Phangan are located near Haad Rin Nok, or Haad Rin Nai. Some of the resorts are located right on Haad Rin Beach which is perfect for the party. This is not the place to be for a quiet time or getaway.
If you want to get away from it all, you can always stay on the other side of the island away from all the noise, as there are some resorts located here which are well away from the party.

Getting to Koh Phangan:
To get to Koh Phangan, you can get a ferry ride or a night speed boat from Koh Samui, which takes around 20 to 30 minutes, or you can get a ferry from the mainland at - Surat Thani which takes around 90 minutes. There is also a night boat from Surat Thani, which can take 8 hours to arrive. You can fly from Phuket to Koh Samui in less than an hour with Bangkok or Thai Airways and the ferries to Koh Phangan are located nice and close to the airport.

Although many people have the time of their lives at the Full Moon Party, some unfortunately don't and end up in hospital or even jail. Common sense and being careful at the party is a must and it is always a wise idea to get clued up as much as possible about any potential situations that you could get yourself into. You don't want to go to Koh Phangan for the time of your life and up in hospital or mugged.
