What is the Future of Patong Nightlife?

With so many buildings going down and new ones coming up around in Patong's nightlife areas, it's hard to tell exactly where things are heading. One thing is for sure, there are more nightclubs and bars popping up and things just seem to keep on getting bigger. The construction is moving ahead at frantic paces, as new bars and clubs try and rush to be built for the coming Peak Season. There is constant construction going on all around Bangla Road and if you were absent from this area for a year, when you return, you will notice big differences with new bars, nightclubs and other nightlife venues in place of what was once something else.
There has also been a shift in the type of tourist that visits Patong and there are far more tourists now from India and the Middle East and also from other parts of Asia and there has been a decline in visitors from the usual Western countries.
Gone are the days where Farangs (white people) are the only kind of tourist in Patong, Phuket, or anywhere in Thailand. With the Western economies now failing and their currencies falling, there has been a reduction in numbers from these parts of the world. There is also negative reports of setups and corruption that are circulating around the web which are having an effect on Western tourist numbers.



Countries such as India are now prospering more than ever and with the internet and word of mouth, the popularity of places such as Patong has been on the rise. With India a relatively short plane trip away, it's not hard to see why they are coming in droves. Many more people are now visiting from the Middle East and are also making up a much larger percent of the tourist numbers.
What is it that interests these kinds of tourists to Phuket or Patong, is it the women, the weather, the food maybe? It might be a combination of these things, but it is obvious from the amount of single guys getting around from these parts of the world, that they are here for the women. There are plenty of working women in Patong and more than enough to keep the amount of tourists happy, but does every guy from India and the Middle East get a girl?
If you ask a Thai lady if she likes guys from India or the Middle East, she will tell you - "no don't like", every time. Many of the working girls are having a hard time finding business with the Farang's as, the numbers are down, so as much as they don't like to go with the guys from these parts of the world, sometimes they just have to. So if you are from India or the Middle East and you are looking for a lady for the night, you might just get lucky, as there are plenty of women to go around in Patong.
The clubs and bars still cater mostly for Farang's, but if the change in tourists keeps up, the future of nightlife in Patong might be very different.
